Over the last few years we have been working on a new site. Here it is. We have had lots of plans for improving TuftsLife and received many suggestions. But the old web site was not adaptable enough to accommodate these changes. We built this new site from scratch and have tried to preserve the key elements of the old site while improving the efficiency and feel of the site. It was a race to get it working before the new school year, and we apologize if your favorite feature has not made the transition yet.
This brand new site brings about some new policies and some new functionality, including the following:
- User Accounts: If you look at the top right of the page, you can now create an account for TuftsLife. Creating an account is not necessary to browse the site. However, if you wish to submit an event, announcement, or any other request, you will need an account. It is easy to create an account by using your Tufts email address.
- Submissions: To submit to TuftsLife, you must log in. Once you are logged in, a new tab labeled submissions will be visible on the right side of your link bar at the top of the page. Use the given links to make your submission. Just as before, all content is moderated by the TuftsLife team, and so we need 48 hours to process every submission. You will no longer receive an email when your submission is approved, but you will see it on the site immediately once processed.
- Occurrences: When submitting an event you have the option to add multiple event occurrences. Every event requires at least one occurrence. You can even add occurrences to a past event that was previously accepted and not have to wait for TuftsLife approval!
- Editing or Deleting Submissions: One of the biggest problems with the old TuftsLife was the difficulty in editing or deleting an event you submitted. Now, if you are logged in and select one of your submissions, you have the ability to edit or delete it. Please be warned--once you edit a submission, it will automatically be placed back into the submissions queue for reapproval by the TuftsLife team. The submission won't be visible on the site until it is reapproved. Again, please give us 48 hours to approve any edits to a submission. You can save time with events by giving previously approved events new occurrences and skip the submission queue altogether!
- Restaurant Menus: We are working to get updated menus from a wider range of local restaurants for TuftsLife. Stay tuned for updates.
